aids

The truth is, real people don’t have sex in boxes.

‘In the Aids industry,” writes Elizabeth Pisani, “we were all whores.” SHE presents an image different from that of the worthy medics and epidemiologists who have, in her judgment, prostituted their scientific expertise in the global crusade against Aids. She has emerged from a decade in the Aids bureaucracy, to expose some of the myths that prevail in a world “where money eclipses truth”. There is a “huge difference”, she insists, “between making it up (plain old lying) and which she considers a legitimate journalistic ploy of “making a big, interesting, dramatic story out of something that may actually be rather mundane”. The hugeness of this difference appears to be another example of self-justifying spin. she and her colleagues manipulated the figures, presenting them “in their worst light”. They “did it consciously” to foster public alarm and squeeze more money for prevention campaigns out of governments and donors. They incentivated everyone to feel that they where at risk , justified by the goal of promoting sexual restraint.

Pisani also challenges the Aids industry mantra that HIV is a disease of poverty and gender inequality. She thinks dictatorships are more constructive than democracy in this case . Whereas democratic politicians are inclined to make concessions to voters with religious convictions, who lack sympathy for drug users, or gay men, or sex workers

quotes

Francisco Brualla

There’s a little truth behind every “just kidding,” a little curiosity behind every “just wondering,” a little knowledge behind every “I didn’t know,” and a little emotion behind every “I don’t care”.

sometimes, I get so lonely I forget what day it is and how to spell my name.

It’s amazing, really, just how much pain the human heart can take.

Strange how people judge others by the clothes they wear, when clothes merely cover one’s skin but not one’s character.

At some point, you have to make a decision. Boundaries don’t keep other people out. They fence you in. Life is messy. That’s how we’re made. So, you can waste your lives drawing lines. Or you can live your life crossing them.

http://brokenmachine.tumblr.com/post/50789939No matter how bad you feel, loneliness will fade and even disappear when you focus your attention on things you’d like to explore. There’s a whole world out there. Sometimes it’s better to have time alone, to have the complete freedom to do things without worrying about what other people will say. In the end, you don’t really have to think of yourself as a lonely person… just someone who has been given enough space to grow

I am going to give you a piece of advice…advice I wish I’d been told in guidance class back in high school, in between the don’t-do-acid and don’t-drink-and-drive films. I wish our counselors had told us, ‘When you grow older a dreadful, horrible sensation will come over you. It’s called loneliness, and you think you know what it is now, but you don’t. Here is the list of the symptoms, and don’t worry—loneliness is the most universal sensation on the planet. Just remember one fact—loneliness will pass. You will survive and you will be a better human for it.

Human beings are funny. They long to be with the person they love but refuse to admit openly. Some are afraid to show even the slightest sign of affection because of fear. Fear that their feelings may not be recognized, or even worst, returned. But one thing about human beings puzzles me the most is their conscious effort to be connected with the object of their affection even if it kills them slowly within.

We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love

When we don’t know who to hate, we hate ourselves.

If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn’t. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn’t be. And what it wouldn’t be, it would. You see?

quotes

I can never read all the books I want; I can never be all the people I want and live all the lives I want. I can never train myself in all the skills I want. And why do I want? I want to live and feel all the shades, tones and variations of mental and physical experience possible in life. And I am horribly limited.

Loneliness has followed me my whole life. Everywhere. In bars, in cars, sidewalks, stores, everywhere. There’s no escape.

Have you ever wondered which hurts the most: saying something and wishing you had not, or saying nothing, and wishing you had?

I believe we don’t literary pursue happiness. But at some point, the idea of happiness just stays at the back of our minds, the constant thought that maybe this (decision, person) might be the one to bring us happiness. That thought of finding that one that will make us happy stays in everything we do, decisions we make, and relationships we get into.

If you don’t run your own life, somebody else will

Eating a donought made me understand

Why do we ask Why?
Why are persons becoming less personal?
What is the ultimate question?
What is the answer to the ultimate question?
Does the meaning have life?
Can you find a way if you look away?
What is a Heffalump?
Is moderation a rare commodity?

How to avoid going from detox to retox?

There are no bad questions – only dumb ones.

Start each day with a fresh, new idea. Because all of your old ideas haven’t really worked out.

“Live in hope, die in despair”.

-Searching for answers in all the wrong places

-Why do I follow your even knowing that you are lost?

There is no distance from the sublime to the ridiculous

Lets talk about blogs II

7)Some like to share almost every single detail of their daily life such as how did they felt today; what did they ate; who did they saw, what happend in their favourite TV show: what collor are thet thinking of dying their hair of and tons of othe minuscule ditails that come to their mind.

8)There are also people who like to present themselves with a profile that is completely different from their own. They like impersonating other persons. Sometimes they do it just to have fun; but most of the times to feel they are someone else who they don’t dislike, as much as they dislike themselves.

9)Other personal blogs are dedicated to emphasize the owner cool aspects (of course from his personal viewpoint). Some like to display pictures of themselves surrounded by famous or beautifull people; Others like people to think that every night thye go out they always have amazing disco nights, and end up with two gorgeous models in their beds.

10)Others pretend being intelectuals and they do not know shit. Thet usually pay attention in adding links to people who know about of the subject they are supposed to know about, With the articles they write is not that easy to realize but if you write to them, do a comment or have some kind of interaction is much easier to spot that is al a facade. I usually subdivide this kind of blogs in the ones that are closer to the hard sciences and the others that aren’t. The difference is that in hard science generally things are correct or not but in the other case it is easier to argue and defend ideas that are clearly mistaken.

nobody is better
It is true that everybody needs to be appreciated by other people. The only hazard in this case is that they might forget that real and strong relations are based on loving the other person for what they are, instead than for the perfect person that they pretend to be.
Try to Face the pain without anesthesics, Dig dipper, be patient, do your best effort and it might get better.

To the people that are unable to see (almost everybody)

When marketers convince us to follow their trends,
the difference between humans and insects gets a little blurrier

Our humanity has become dislocated.

We like the world in which we’re phenomenally conscious. We like ourselves for being phenomenally conscious. And the resulting joie de vivre, the enchantment with the world we live in, and the enhanced sense of our own metaphysical importance have, in the course of evolutionary history, turned our lives around.

Being homeless already means living in brutal poverty. Increasingly, it also means brutal violence.

Pope Benedict’s silence on sexual abuse in the Catholic Church is a betrayal to both justice and Jesus.

There are consecuences for regretable actions.

There are consecuences for people that do not fight against the evil society they live in.

There are consecuences for viusous societies.

notes to remind me

There are consequences for regrettable actions. Stop

it. Stop it and start being more productive. Stop it

and start paying more attention to other people’s

feelings.

words are bastards. but sometimes they pretend to be your friends.

sometimes other people’s words are all we have. and sometimes, even, they surpass our expectations.

People pay for what they do, and still more,

for what they have allowed themselves to be-

come. And they pay for it simply: by the

lives they lead.
